Capturing the Life and Philosophy of a "Field Expert"
Kang Ki-yoon, a preliminary candidate for the mayor of Changwon Special City, held a publication celebration for his book, "CEO Kang Ki-yoon, Manage Changwon," in the Convention Hall of Changwon Convention Center on the afternoon of March 1.
The event drew a massive crowd of citizens, filling the venue to capacity, and the surrounding area was adorned with congratulatory flower wreaths. From as early as noon, the hall was bustling with people, reflecting both Kang's extensive political career and the wide network he has built over the years.
The event was attended by numerous key figures from all walks of life, including colleagues and acquaintances from his time as secretary of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee and the Public Administration and Security Committee, as well as citizens, all gathering to celebrate the publication of Kang's first book.
In his greeting, former Assemblyman Kang shared his thoughts, saying, "Although I have stood on many stages throughout my long political career, this is the first publication event held under my own name." He continued, "Some have asked why I am only now holding an event that everyone else seems to do, but my belief that action should always come before words made me hesitant and cautious about presenting my life in writing."
Reflecting on the significance of March 1, the day of the event, he remarked, "The cry our ancestors raised in unison 107 years ago was a call for a new beginning," emphasizing that "the perseverance and dedication shown by the citizens of Changwon embody the spirit of the March 1st Movement." He also noted that the integration of Masan, Changwon, and Jinhae into one unified city symbolizes the meaning of 'three becoming one,' which is why the event was held on March 1.
His book, "CEO Kang Ki-yoon, Manage Changwon," is a compilation of the experiences and philosophies Kang has accumulated on the ground, starting as a laborer, then becoming an entrepreneur, serving two terms as a National Assembly member, and later as a public enterprise CEO.
In the book, Kang defines himself as someone who possesses the business acumen to understand the field, the insight of a politician to read the times, and the execution of a CEO to drive change.
Kang explained his motivation for writing, stating, "Writing is a daunting task that exposes oneself as is, but I felt it was my duty to record the overwhelming support I have received from citizens and to offer thoughts on the path we should take."
The event featured a variety of programs, including congratulatory video messages, and the citizens in attendance offered strong encouragement for the publication of Kang's book.
