Introducing Batteries for Robotics and Drones
LG Energy Solution announced on March 2 that it will participate in "InterBattery 2026," which will be held at COEX in Gangnam District from March 11 to 13. The company will showcase a variety of products, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based energy storage systems (ESS) and lithium manganese rich (LMR) batteries.
For this year's exhibition, LG Energy Solution will participate under the theme "Original Innovator, Creating the Future of Energy," and has prepared the largest exhibition hall among all participating companies, spanning approximately 540 square meters (about 163 pyeong).
This year, the company plans to display core battery technologies and case studies not only for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS), but also for key industries such as robotics and drones.
In addition, the company will unveil the LMR battery, which achieves a balance between price and performance, for the first time. This battery, co-developed with General Motors in the United States, received the "Battery Innovation Award" at The Battery Show North America 2025 last year. LG Energy Solution also plans to present updates on the development of next-generation technologies, including all-solid-state batteries.
The exhibition space is organized into five zones: the Hero Zone, where visitors can explore the history of batteries and the company's future vision; Energy Infrastructure; Mobility; Robotics & Drone; and Future Technology.
In the Energy Infrastructure Zone, various products designed to meet the surge in electricity demand driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and renewable energy will be showcased. These include batteries for power grid stabilization and efficient electricity supply-specifically for grid, industrial/commercial use, and data centers-along with the company's energy-as-a-service (EaaS) business model for integrated energy management.
For power grid applications, the "JF2 DC Link 5.0" ESS solution, tailored to Korea's power infrastructure and institutional environment, will be displayed. This product is the first in Korea to feature LFP batteries, enhancing fire safety.
As an emergency power solution for AI data centers, the next-generation JP6 UPS rack system based on LFP, as well as the BBU (Battery Backup Unit) solution equipped with high-output cylindrical batteries, will be unveiled domestically for the first time.
In the Mobility Zone, the LMR battery will be introduced for the first time, alongside software and AI-based technologies for electric vehicle battery diagnostics and prediction.
In the Robotics & Drone area, LG Electronics' home robot "LGCLOiD" and Bear Robotics' autonomous driving robot "Carti100" will be on display. Through these examples, LG Energy Solution aims to highlight the wide range of applications for its high-performance cylindrical batteries in both household and industrial settings.
Additionally, drones for blood transport and aerospace cube satellites, developed in collaboration with the K-Drone Alliance, will also be introduced.
In the Future Technology Zone, LG Energy Solution plans to showcase its next-generation battery technology portfolio, including all-solid-state batteries, lithium metal batteries, bipolar batteries, and sodium batteries.
An LG Energy Solution spokesperson stated, "This exhibition demonstrates the role of LG Energy Solution as the source of energy powering the world behind the scenes," adding, "Visitors will be able to witness the future of innovative technologies that are set to lead the entire spectrum of future industries, from AI infrastructure to robotics."
