During his state visit to Singapore on March 1, President Lee Jaemyung stated, "Although the international situation is unstable, the people of Korea have nothing to worry about."
President Lee made this statement via X (formerly Twitter) immediately after arriving at Changi International Airport in Singapore, saying, "In all sectors, including the real economy, finance, and military security, the Cabinet, including Prime Minister Kim Minseok, is thoroughly prepared."
This remark is interpreted as being made with consideration for the chaotic global order, including the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of a U.S. and Israeli airstrike on Iran.
President Lee further explained, "The presidential office, including Chief of Staff Kang Hoonshik and all secretaries, is also maintaining an emergency response system and preparing for every possible contingency."
He continued, "We, the people of Korea, have even overcome civil unrest in the past. Now, we have a government of national sovereignty created by these great people of Korea," adding, "I ask all citizens to feel at ease, enjoy your daily lives, and devote yourselves to your livelihoods."
Prior to departing for Singapore, President Lee had instructed the Cabinet to maintain an emergency response system and provide frequent updates on related situations.
