Yangju City Successfully Holds 107th Anniversary Garaebi March 1st Movement Memorial Ceremony
The Noble Spirit of Garaebi Remembered Through Musical and Parade
Reenactment of the Independence Movement and Street Parade
Citizens Participate in Patriotic Culture Events
On March 1, Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, held the "107th Anniversary Yangju Garaebi March 1st Movement Memorial Ceremony and Reenactment Event" at the March 1st Movement Memorial Park in Gwangjeok-myeon, hosted by the Garaebi March 1st Movement Martyrs Memorial Association (Chairman Lee Chaeyong), paying tribute to the noble spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs.

The event was attended by more than 600 participants, including officials from Yangju City, Yangju City Council, Northern Gyeonggi Patriots and Veterans Affairs Office, Dongducheon Yangju Office of Education, Nonghyup Bank Yangju Branch, as well as bereaved families of independence patriots, representatives of veterans' associations, heads of social organizations, and citizens.
The ceremony began with the national ritual, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence, commemorative remarks, singing of the March 1st Movement song, a three cheers for independence, commemorative performances, and a street parade reenacting the independence movement.
The commemorative performances included the original musical "Remember! That Day!" (directed by Park Songyeon), which reenacted the 1919 Garaebi Mansebaemi scene, and a performance by the Yangju City Choir. Citizens participated in the street parade reenactment of the Manse movement that took place in the Garaebi area, waving Taegeukgi and shouting, "Long live Korean independence."

At the event venue, there was an exhibition introducing local independence activists and a "citizen participation patriots' culture event," where citizens could leave messages of gratitude and hope for the martyrs on the Taegeukgi. The completed Taegeukgi will be displayed on the third-floor gallery of Yangju City Hall.
Yangju Mayor Kang Suhyeon stated, "The March 1st Movement is a historic event in which our people united as one to declare the will for national independence to the world," adding, "We will remember the noble sacrifices of the patriots and carry on their spirit as a force for regional development and civic unity."
