On the morning of March 1, Mayor Yook Donghan paid his respects at the Memorial Tower for Anti-Japanese Independence Patriots, honoring those who dedicated their lives to the cause of national independence. He then attended the 3·1 Movement Day commemorative ceremony held at the Baekryeong Art Center at Kangwon National University. The ceremony was attended by about 1,000 people, including members of the Liberation Association, representatives of patriotic organizations, descendants of independence activists, military personnel, and citizens. The program included awards for independence patriots, commemorative speeches, the singing of the March 1st Movement song, and the traditional "Manse" cheers.
On the same day, a bell-ringing ceremony for citizens was held at the City Hall Plaza. Following a pre-performance by the city choir, Mayor Yook Donghan, members of the Liberation Association, heads of organizations, and 24 representatives from various sectors rang the bell 33 times in three groups. This act symbolized the inheritance of the spirit of independence, the unity of citizens, and the remembrance of the cries of the March 1st Movement.
After the event, a luncheon was held for about 100 people, including members of the Liberation Association and heads of patriotic organizations. Additionally, 100,000 won worth of Chuncheon Love Gift Certificates was presented as a gift to honorees.
To ensure a comfortable and safe bell-ringing event, the city distributed seat cushions and hot packs and deployed safety management personnel around the venue. Thorough measures were taken to maintain order and prevent accidents.

This year's event was organized in connection with the city's ongoing "All-Citizen Taegeukgi Display Campaign." The commemoration served not only as a ceremonial occasion, but also as a venue for citizen participation aimed at spreading the spirit of the March 1st Movement into everyday practice.
Mayor Yook Donghan stated, "The March 1st Movement was a historic starting point when our nation declared its will for self-reliance and independence to the world," adding, "Chuncheon City will work to ensure that the spirit of the March 1st Movement lives on in daily life through the Taegeukgi Display Campaign and various practical activities."
