The Galaxy S26 Ultra, which fully leverages Samsung Electronics’ technological capabilities and expertise, is equipped with powerful hardware optimized for AI experiences and high-performance tasks. Seonghoon Moon, Vice President of Hardware at Samsung Electronics' MX Division, made these statements during a hardware innovation briefing held in San Francisco, USA, on the 26th of last month (local time).
The most notable feature of the newly released Galaxy S26 Ultra is the inclusion of Qualcomm’s application processor (AP) optimized for AI functions. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite for Galaxy delivers improvements over the previous model: NPU performance increased by 39%, GPU by 24%, and CPU by 19%. As a result, users can enjoy faster and smoother AI features such as AI call summary and AI eraser, as well as enhanced gaming and multitasking experiences.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics’ image enhancement solution, mDNIE (mobile Digital Natural Image engine), has achieved approximately four times greater image processing precision compared to its predecessor. This enables a smoother and more vibrant color experience.
The ProScaler, an AI-based image processing algorithm, has also been improved, allowing users to enlarge images and text with even clearer and smoother edges.

Furthermore, the performance of the device’s internal heat control system, the vapor chamber, has been enhanced. Vice President Moon stated, “In 2019, we were the first in the world to commercialize and apply the vapor chamber,” adding, “Over the years, we have worked to improve its performance, optimize its structure, and maximize its area.”
He further explained that the internal structure was improved to allow heat to move more efficiently. Vice President Moon said, “The bottleneck area, where the transfer pathway narrows, has been expanded by about 28%,” and added, “With this wider bottleneck structure, we have implemented a cooling system where heat circulates more smoothly.”
He continued, “We expect that even during high-performance tasks such as gaming or video recording, users will be able to enjoy the Galaxy S series without any performance degradation due to heat.”
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the first Ultra model in the Galaxy S series to offer a thickness in the 7mm range (7.9mm), and its weight has been reduced to 214g, making it 4g lighter than the S25. It also features ‘Super Fast Charging 3.0,’ which can charge the device up to 75% in just 30 minutes.
Vice President Moon stated, “With the Galaxy S26 Ultra, users will be able to experience the most powerful AI phone ever, offering even greater usability and portability.”
He added, “The Exynos 2600, applied to the standard and Plus models of the Galaxy S26, also delivers improved performance, heat management, and power consumption, befitting its status as the world’s first 2-nanometer AP. It has successfully passed a variety of internal evaluations and criteria, ensuring that customers will have a great experience.”
He went on to say, “We will continue our efforts to ensure that Exynos can be installed in the Ultra model as well, to secure a stable supply and support the long-term roadmap for our APs.”
