Achievement Demonstrates Outstanding AI Infrastructure and Faculty Expertise
National Mokpo University has been selected as the final institution in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the "2026 Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp" led by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), establishing itself as a cradle for nurturing key talent to lead future industries.
According to National Mokpo University on February 27, the university has secured a total project budget of 10.2 billion won over the next five years through this selection, and will actively begin cultivating specialized talent to lead the AI transformation of Jeollanam-do's core industries.
The "Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp" is a program in which universities and companies jointly develop and operate short-term intensive training courses of less than one year, aiming to foster national core talent equipped with practical skills ready for immediate deployment in the field.
This year, 87 universities nationwide competed fiercely in the AI field application process, and after document screening and interviews, only 37 universities, including National Mokpo University, made it to the final list. National Mokpo University passed this high bar thanks to its outstanding AI infrastructure and the high level of expertise among its faculty.
Going forward, National Mokpo University will establish a close university-industry cooperation system with participating companies and provide tailored field-oriented education. Key initiatives include: ▲ job analysis and curriculum development based on corporate needs ▲ joint operation of courses involving company employees ▲ field training and internship programs.
Students who complete this educational program will be officially certified with a micro-degree. By gaining both practical experience and a degree, students are expected to secure a strong competitive edge in the future job market for leading companies in relevant advanced industries.
President Song Hacheol stated, "We will do our utmost to train AI convergence professionals who will drive the AI transformation of Jeollanam-do’s core industries," and added, "By nurturing top-tier, practice-oriented AI talent who can be immediately deployed at companies, we will lead the innovative growth of regional advanced industries."
