It was belatedly revealed that actor Lim Joohwan had previously worked at a Coupang logistics center. On February 27, his agency, Basecamp Company, officially acknowledged, "Lim Joohwan has experience working at a Coupang logistics center in the past."
Recently, posts claiming to have spotted Lim Joohwan at a Coupang logistics center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, last August have been circulating across online communities and social networking services (SNS). One poster shared specific experiences, stating, "There were people who received his autograph in person," and "I heard he also worked at other centers." Another user commented, "He came to work on outbound operations and worked really hard. That made him look even better."
According to his agency, Lim Joohwan worked at logistics centers several times last year during a break between projects. He has since quit working there to focus on preparing for his next project. The fact that he acknowledged this calmly without any special explanation or denial also drew attention. Lim Joohwan made his debut in 2003 with "Nonstop" and has steadily built up his filmography. He has received love from the public by appearing in dramas such as "Oh My Ghost," "Uncontrollably Fond," and "Three Bold Siblings." Last year, he took on an overseas project with a role in the British drama "Gangs of London Season 3" and also expanded his career by performing on stage in the play "Pride."
After news of Lim Joohwan's work at the logistics center broke, messages of support have continued to pour in online. Comments such as "It actually makes him more likable," "It's admirable to see him do his best in his work," and "It shows that celebrities are ultimately people with lives just like us" have been prevalent.
It is reported that Lim Joohwan is currently reviewing offers for his next project and preparing for his return. Basecamp Company, where he is signed, is a newly established agency founded by actors Cha Taehyun and Zo In-sung. Lim Joohwan joined the company as its first actor in May last year.
This news once again highlights a realistic side of the entertainment industry. Behind the glamorous spotlight, many actors experience gaps between projects and face financial struggles. In fact, quite a few actors have taken on various part-time jobs to make ends meet, regardless of their level of recognition. Actor Jung Sungil, for example, revealed that before and even after gaining fame through the Netflix series "The Glory," he worked as a substitute driver and delivered newspapers. In an interview, he candidly shared, "You never know when work will stop coming as an actor," expressing the practical difficulties of the profession.
Actor Park Hosun, who appeared in the drama "My Mister," also made headlines by confessing that even after gaining recognition, he worked cleaning building windows and delivering bottled water due to lack of living expenses. He said, "Because I had to take care of my family, I couldn't turn down any kind of work." As such, it is not uncommon for actors to seek out other jobs during breaks between projects to support themselves. Although their faces are familiar to the public, their actual income can change drastically depending on whether or not they are cast in a project. This reality is especially true for supporting or mid-career actors, for whom it can be difficult to maintain a stable livelihood on acting fees alone.
