Full-Scale Investigation of Incumbent Prosecutor from Another Region
An incumbent prosecutor is under a compulsory police investigation on suspicion of illegally filming the body of a woman he was dating.
On February 27, Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced that it has booked without detention and is investigating Prosecutor A, who is currently affiliated with a prosecution office in another region, on suspicion of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (filming using cameras, etc.).
According to the police, Prosecutor A is suspected of secretly filming the body of Ms. B, a woman he was dating at the time, without her consent in Jeonnam during 2024 while he was working in the region.
The police recently received a formal complaint from victim Ms. B and have launched a full-scale investigation. In order to clarify the facts, the police reportedly conducted a search and seizure of Prosecutor A’s mobile phone and are currently securing related evidence.
It is known that Prosecutor A is strongly denying the allegations of illegal filming during the police investigation process.
The police plan to conduct a comprehensive and thorough review of the results of the digital forensic examination of the seized mobile phone, the circumstances surrounding the filming, and whether any laws were violated. If the charges are substantiated, Prosecutor A will soon be referred to the prosecution.
