The Gumi Small and Medium Business Association held its 24th regular general meeting and the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the president on February 26 at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Geumosan. The event was attended by around 150 people, including representatives and executives from member companies, Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho, as well as heads of related organizations and groups.
The first part of the event featured presentations on financial support programs by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, industrial technology protection guidelines by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency, and a briefing on the "Gumi Aesso-yo" Challenge Relay aimed at revitalizing the local economy. This provided members with an opportunity to share information on support systems and resources that could be immediately utilized in the field.
Following the audit report, agenda items were discussed and approved, including the 2025 business plan and financial report, the 2026 draft business plan and budget, amendments to the articles of association, and changes to the executive board.
The second part began with a celebratory performance, followed by the introduction of distinguished guests, an awards ceremony, retirement and inauguration addresses, congratulatory remarks, and the handing over of the association flag. In addition, an appreciation plaque was presented to outgoing 11th president Song Wonho in recognition of his contributions.
During the awards ceremony, commendations were presented to individuals who contributed to the development of local small and medium-sized businesses and the industrial sector. The Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor's Commendation was awarded to Moonryong Kim, CEO of Daeshin Networks Co., Ltd.; Hong Jongcheol, CEO of Taekwang Industries; and Bae Sangyong, CEO of VNS. The Gumi Mayor's Commendation was given to Bae Hyoseok, plant manager at GM Korea Co., Ltd., and Yang Hayoung, assistant manager at Jisang Pneumatic Co., Ltd.
The Daegu Regional Employment and Labor Office Gumi Branch Chief's Commendation went to Lee Seonguk, CEO of Sea Mechanics Co., Ltd., and Ha Seungyong, CEO of Terra Inc. The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Small and Medium Business Administration Chief's Commendation was awarded to Seo Sangyoon, CEO of Sungyoon Hightech Co., Ltd., and Park Jongheon, CEO of Sungwoo Co., Ltd. The Korea Federation of SMEs President's Commendation was awarded to Goong Bugun Jeong, senior manager at LCTech Co., Ltd., and Shin Jonghong, deputy general manager at TSR Co., Ltd.
In his retirement speech, outgoing president Song Wonho said, "I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported the association and its members during my tenure. I will continue to wholeheartedly support the ongoing growth of Gumi's small and medium-sized businesses and the development of the association."
Newly inaugurated president Moon Donghwan presented the slogan, "SMEs Leading Change, Gumi Opening the Future," and stated in his inauguration address, "I will do my best to strengthen communication and cooperation among member companies, expand field-oriented support and collaborative systems with related organizations, and ensure the association truly benefits businesses."
Finally, participants shared a dinner, fostering networking opportunities, sharing information among member companies, and exchanging diverse opinions on the future direction of local small and medium-sized business development.
