City’s Spring Water Quality Improvement Project Bears Fruit
Consistent "Satisfactory" Ratings Every Month After Purification Device Installation
Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province installed water purification devices at five spring sites (Sinsun, Boeun, Mansu, 88, and Simin Spring) between 2024 and 2025, resulting in improved water quality.

The "Drinking Water Public Facilities (Spring Sites) Improvement Project" has been underway since 2023 as a provincially subsidized initiative. The project aims to enhance the water quality and surrounding environment of 12 spring sites in the city to improve convenience for citizens.
However, despite the implementation of the project, the number of cases where water quality test results were deemed unsatisfactory increased, leading to greater inconvenience for citizens using the spring sites. In response, the city reviewed the installation of water purification devices, prioritizing spring sites that frequently received unsatisfactory results.
The installed water purification devices remove foreign substances from the spring water using precision filters, then eliminate harmful bacteria such as E. coli and viruses with ultraviolet sterilization, while retaining beneficial minerals and other components to provide high-quality mineral water. Monthly water quality inspections conducted after the installation of the devices have consistently resulted in "satisfactory" evaluations.
A Dongducheon City official stated, "We will continue to improve the environment of spring sites, gradually expand the installation of water purification devices with consideration for user convenience and accessibility, and do our utmost to maintain quality by regularly replacing filters and sterilization lamps."
