Season Reopens After Winter Closure
Online Advance Reservations Required
Gonjiam Resort announced on February 27 that Hwadam Forest in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, will reopen on March 27 after its winter closure.
With the reopening, Hwadam Forest will welcome spring with early-blooming flowers such as the yellow Cornelian cherry, adonis, and forsythia along its 5.3-kilometer walking trails. Each of Hwadam Forest's 16 themed gardens will showcase around 4,000 different plant species to greet visitors.
Hwadam Forest, together with Gonjiam Resort, will also host the "Spring Daffodil Festival" until the end of April. During the festival, approximately 100,000 daffodils will create a sea of yellow across Hwadam Forest and the Gonjiam Resort plaza area. In the birch forest, some 2,000 white birch trees and daffodils will form a spectacular scene.
Additionally, a new complex cultural space called "Hwadamchae" will open, allowing visitors to experience the story and philosophy of Hwadam Forest in new ways. The space will feature media art utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI), along with various works that reinterpret Hwadam Forest's philosophy of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
For safe visits, Hwadam Forest will implement a daily admission cap of 10,000 people using a time-slot reservation system. It will operate exclusively through online advance reservations, allowing guests to select their preferred date, time, and number of visitors for both entry and use of the monorail departing from Station 1, all via the official website. Online reservations will open at 1:00 p.m. on March 10.
During the spring season, Hwadam Forest will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with last admissions at 5:00 p.m.
