The total project cost for the identified projects amounts to 827.9 billion won, with a funding target of 149.4 billion won in national funding and 60.8 billion won in provincial funding. This represents an increase of 68.4 billion won from the previous year.
Earlier, Donghae-si held a briefing to identify projects for national and provincial funding, reviewing strategies to secure new projects linked to government policies and SOC projects closely related to citizens' daily lives.
By sector, the breakdown is as follows: 9 AI and digital transformation projects totaling 214.4 billion won; 18 everyday-life-oriented SOC projects totaling 360.9 billion won; 13 economic and industrial projects totaling 169.2 billion won; 19 culture and tourism projects totaling 45.1 billion won; 11 sports and education projects totaling 32.3 billion won; and 6 health and welfare projects totaling 5.7 billion won.
The key target projects for funding will focus on government policy-linked initiatives such as AI-based administrative and welfare services, smart villages, and energy technology development, as well as projects to improve the residential environment, including modernization of water and sewage systems, creation of urban forests, and expansion of sports facilities.
In addition, between March and April, the city plans to visit central government ministries and Gangwon-do to explain the necessity of the projects, and to strengthen efforts to secure national and provincial funding in cooperation with the offices of National Assembly members and the city and provincial councils.
Deputy Mayor Kim Jungyun said, "Securing national and provincial funding is a key financial resource for resolving local pending issues and expanding living infrastructure," adding, "We will concentrate our administrative capacity so that each department can carry out preemptive efforts to secure funding by visiting central government ministries and the National Assembly, ensuring that the identified projects lead to actual funding."
