Damyang County, Jeollanam-do, concluded the "2026 Village Outreach Citizens' Meeting," an outreach communication initiative that began on the 7th of last month in Damyang-eup and listened to residents' voices. Provided by Damyang County, Jeollanam-do.

Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do successfully concluded its grand initiative, the "2026 Citizens' Meeting Visiting Villages," by directly visiting 325 villages across 12 eup and myeon and listening on-site to the voices of local residents.

According to Damyang-gun on the 26th, the county carried out outreach communication activities starting in Damyang-eup on January 7 and continuing through the 26th of this month, engaging in open and candid conversations with residents.

This initiative went beyond simply sharing current county administration issues, focusing instead on transparently reporting the specific handling status of 1,857 suggestions submitted by residents in 2025.

So far, 496 of these suggestions have been fully processed, and 1,204 are being actively pursued. In particular, for 157 suggestions that are difficult to implement immediately due to reasons such as insufficient project feasibility, the county frankly explained the grounds for non-implementation, as well as future alternatives and review directions, eliciting deep empathy and understanding from residents.

In addition, the county carefully introduced a number of valuable new policies that will change starting in 2026, such as expanding eligibility for hospital accompaniment services, increasing benefits and easing eligibility criteria for basic livelihood security recipients, promoting farm work proxy services, and offering a payback on Metasequoia entrance fees, which received a very positive response.

An official from Damyang-gun stated, "We will continue to place top priority on fulfilling our promises to residents and steadfastly pursue a communication-centered administration that finds answers in the field."

Meanwhile, Damyang-gun plans to actively incorporate the additional opinions and supplementary points raised during these meetings into county administration after thorough review by the relevant departments, while closely monitoring the progress of implementation.
