The two organizations plan to jointly host commemorative events and roundtable meetings with key figures this year. The aim is to reaffirm their shared values of freedom and democracy, highlight American innovation and entrepreneurship, and promote the achievements and significance of the Korea-U.S. alliance.
This agreement is expected to serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the comprehensive alliance encompassing cooperation in trade, investment, advanced technology, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, and to explore directions for future collaboration.
As the official Korean partner of Freedom 250, AMCHAM has decided to support programs that reflect the views and perspectives of the business community and to expand cooperative activities by linking the Freedom 250 brand to major events.
Kim James, chairman and CEO of AMCHAM, said, "We are deeply honored to work with the U.S. Embassy in Korea on the meaningful journey of Freedom 250, which commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States," adding, "We will use a variety of programs to share how our shared values of freedom and innovation have firmly supported the Korea-U.S. alliance and to translate that into concrete cooperation."
Heller James Jim, Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Korea, said, "Freedom 250 is not just about looking back at the past; it is a starting point for preparing for the next 250 years," and added, "We hope this collaboration will serve as an opportunity to take cooperation between our two countries to the next level."
The two organizations, together with various institutions in Korea, will carry out flagship events and around 250 related programs nationwide this year. The campaign will continue in a way that encourages participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including students, companies, artists, and local communities.
