Thirty Retired Uijeongbu Officials
Declare Support for Preliminary Candidate Ahn Byungyong
"In Crisis-Stricken Uijeongbu, Ahn Byungyong Is the Answer"
On February 26, a group of retired public officials from Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province (represented by Son Kyungshik and Hong Gwiseon) issued a statement declaring their support for Ahn Byungyong, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for mayor of Uijeongbu, saying, "In crisis-stricken Uijeongbu, clumsy experiments must come to an end," and declaring that "the answer is Ahn Byungyong, a proven administrative expert."
Through the statement of support released that day, the group of retired public officials from Uijeongbu said, "Recently, the clock of Uijeongbu has been turning backwards, the economy has fallen into stagnation, and the city's fiscal self-reliance has hit rock bottom, to the point where even hundreds of billions of won in livelihood-related budget have been cut, putting the city in an unprecedented fiscal crisis," adding, "Seeing the empty coffers and the increasingly harsh lives of citizens, we lie awake all night."
They continued, "We urgently need a prepared salesperson who can go to work tomorrow and break through the mountain of pending issues, and a leader who can overcome crises," and explained, "Only three-term mayor Ahn Byungyong, whom we have watched closely at his side, is the sole person fit to accomplish this," presenting the following four reasons.
First, candidate Ahn Byungyong is an administrator who has proven his real ability to fill what is empty. Together with him, we repaid 86 billion won of toxic debt and achieved the miracle of zero debt, and based on that achievement, he is now the top expert who best knows how to attract external financial resources at a time when the city is suffering from budget shortages.
Second, he is a pragmatist who focuses not on ideology but on the issues of citizens' livelihoods, which allows him to boldly stop conflict-ridden administration and concentrate on solid investments that will fatten citizens' wallets. In particular, attracting the Korea Racing Authority headquarters and the Eco Horse Park is a groundbreaking master key that will revive the economy by generating 50 billion won in tax revenue and creating jobs every year.
Third, he possesses powerful political clout that enables communication with the core of the central government. He shares President Lee Jaemyung's philosophy of governance and has built firm trust by overcoming severe trials together, making him the only candidate who can decisively resolve major national projects.
Fourth, he is a dedicated leader who will be responsible for future competitiveness in an era of upheaval driven by advanced technologies such as AI. At a time when bold change is essential, including building an AI innovation ecosystem on the returned U.S. military bases, this heavy task cannot be handled by a novice, and through strong ties with the central government and driving power, he will draw a new future map for Uijeongbu.
The group of retired public officials from Uijeongbu appealed, "In times of crisis, we must choose a veteran whose competence has been verified. Please once again trust the administrative capability of Ahn Byungyong, who for 12 years enhanced citizens' pride," and declared, "For the brilliant tomorrow of Uijeongbu, we strongly proclaim that we will pool all our strength to achieve the overwhelming victory of three-term, proven mayoral preliminary candidate Ahn Byungyong."
The retired public officials from Uijeongbu who took part in the declaration of support that day numbered 30, including former Uijeongbu vice mayor Son Kyungshik, former Uijeongbu vice mayor Hong Gwiseon, and Go Mujung, Go Jintaek, Gong Wansik, Kwon Wantaek, Kim Gwanghoe, Kim Geunjeong, Kim Seongsu, Kim Yunjin, Kim Jaehun, Kim Haksuk, Kim Hoduk, Kim Hongil, Nam Yunhyun, Noh Seokjun, Song Wonchan, Shin Taesu, Sim Jinju, Oh Jeongsu, Lee Geoncheol, Lee Mihyun, Lee Youngjun, Lee Okgu, Lee Yonggi, Lee Jaesong, Lee Hamin, Lim Munhwan, Jo Bokhyeon, and Choi Jonggeun.
