The KOSPI continued its upward trend, closing in the 6300 range.
On the 26th, the KOSPI finished trading at 6307.27, up 223.4 points (3.67%) from the previous day. This follows the index topping the 6000 level for the first time the day before and continuing to rise.
By investor type, institutions and individual investors led the gains with net purchases of 1.2436 trillion won and 659.2 billion won, respectively. In contrast, foreign investors recorded net sales of 2.1077 trillion won.
By sector, there were sharp gains in electrical and electronics (+6.63%), manufacturing (+4.90%), machinery and equipment (+4.56%), and construction (+3.03%). In addition, securities (+1.15%), distribution (+0.99%), medical and precision instruments (+0.81%), and telecommunications (+0.52%) were also strong. On the other hand, food, beverages and tobacco (-3.59%), textiles and apparel (-1.74%), and electricity and gas (-1.43%) declined, but their moves were smaller than those of the sectors with large gains.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics closed at 218,000 won (+7.13%) and SK Hynix at 1,099,000 won (+7.96%), maintaining the so-called "200,000 Samsung Electronics" and "1 million Hynix" levels. Hyundai Mobis (+12.67%), Hyundai Motor (+6.47%), Kia (+5.05%), and SK Square (+4.95%) also ended higher.
The KOSDAQ index closed at 1188.15, up 22.9 points (1.97%).
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions led the rise with net purchases of 403.2 billion won and 189.3 billion won, respectively. In contrast, individual investors recorded net sales of 547.7 billion won.
By sector, machinery and equipment (+5.05%), pharmaceuticals (+4.60%), finance (+3.15%), and manufacturing (+2.70%) posted large gains. Textiles and apparel (-2.82%), food, beverages and tobacco (-1.95%), paper and wood (-1.93%), and publishing and media reproduction (-1.89%) declined, but their moves were smaller compared with the sectors that saw large gains.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, Samchundang Pharm (+29.85%), EO Technics (+12.57%), Rainbow Robotics (+11.68%), Kolon TissueGene (+10.53%), and Wonik IPS (+10.19%) showed particularly strong gains. In contrast, Hyundai Movex (-4.08%), Woori Technology Investment (-3.83%), and Silicontwo (-3.76%) ended lower.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate closed at 1426.05 won, down 3.35 won from the previous trading day.
