Special Reward Event for Hometown Love Donations...First 20 Participants
Yeongam-gun in Jeollanam-do is offering an opportunity to play a game with a professional Go player as a special reward event for the Hometown Love Donation Program.
The county announced that from February this year through next month, it will offer a chance to play against members of the “Heart of Mahan, Yeongam” Go team to the first 20 donors who contribute at least 100,000 won through the Hometown Love Donation Program and select the “Match with a Professional Go Player” option.
The “Heart of Mahan, Yeongam” team includes world No. 1 Shin Jinseo 9-dan, as well as Hong Seongji 9-dan, Shim Jaeik 7-dan, Lee Jaeseong 6-dan, Choi Gwangho 7-dan, and Xu Haohong 9-dan. The team is led by coach Han Haewon and competes in the domestic Go league.
The special event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on April 4, during the Yeongam Wangin Culture Festival, at the Seongdam Pavilion in the Wangin Cultural Heritage Site. Selected donors will share a meal with a professional player and experience a 4-to-1 simultaneous exhibition game.
To participate, donors should select Yeongam-gun on the online “Gohyang Sarang e-eum” platform, make a donation, and then choose “Match with a Professional Go Player” in the reward section. Yeongam-gun will contact the 20 final selected participants individually.
Lee Youngju, head of Yeongam-gun’s Public Relations Strategy Office, said, “Sharing a Go game with world-class professional players under the cherry blossoms in full bloom at the Wangin Culture Festival site below Wolchulsan National Park will be an unforgettable experience,” adding, “We hope many people will show interest and take part in this event, which combines hometown love, tourism, and a special encounter.”
