Kim Jungseop Vows "Gongju-style Innovation City, Youth Allowance"...Unveils Five Key Pledges

Preliminary candidate Kim Jungseop of the Democratic Party of Korea, running for Mayor of Gongju, has begun his full-scale policy campaign by presenting five key pledges, including the construction of a "Gongju-style Innovation City," ahead of the upcoming June 3 local elections.

On the 26th, at his campaign office, preliminary candidate Kim held his first policy pledge presentation since registering as a preliminary candidate and unveiled his future strategic vision for Gongju City.

Kim put forward the creation of a "Gongju-style Innovation City," linked to the completion of Sejong as the administrative capital, as his core pledge.

He also plans to build a foundation for attracting public institutions by connecting and expanding the Donghyeon Smart Creative City and the new town, focusing on the Songseon-Donghyeon Districts.

In addition, his plan for the construction of leased public office buildings includes the use of the Ministry of Economy and Finance's BTL Special Infrastructure Fund.

He will also push for the creation of a "Cultural Heritage and K-Content Creative Industry Cluster" in the original downtown area.

He further proposed establishing content creation spaces by utilizing idle school sites and creating a promotional and experience center for Cheolhwa Buncheong ware from Gyeryongsan.

As a youth and population response policy, he pledged a "Gongju-style Youth Allowance" that would be gradually expanded to cover those up to 17 years of age.

His idea is to implement this through a joint pledge with South Chungcheong Province, using a cost-sharing method between provincial and city budgets.

In the field of future transportation and industry, he proposed attracting an urban air mobility (K-UAM) demonstration center linked to KTX Gongju Station.

He plans to secure a foundation for the future mobility industry in connection with public contest projects by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

At the same time, he will also promote the creation of a waterfront garden city centered on the Geum River. In line with the opening of the BRT and the second Geum River Bridge, he plans to strengthen Gongju's role as a historical and cultural tourism city by improving the pedestrian environment and enhancing the riverside landscape along the Geum River.

Preliminary candidate Kim stated, "To overcome Gongju's population decline and growth stagnation, I will simultaneously pursue innovation city development, future industries, and livelihood welfare policies."
