Placement at Libraries, District Offices, and Community Service Centers
Providing Practical Work Experience and Career Exploration Opportunities
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on February 26 that it is recruiting participants for the “2026 First Half Youth Administrative Internship Program” to provide unemployed young residents with opportunities to experience municipal work and gain broader social experience.
A total of 34 interns will be recruited. The program is designed to help young people gain a direct understanding of on-site work at public institutions, deepen their understanding of municipal administration, and receive practical support in exploring their future career paths.
Eligible applicants are young people between the ages of 18 and 39 who, as of the date of the announcement, are registered residents of Goyang City. However, university students (both enrolled and on leave of absence) are excluded.
The working period will run for a total of 10 weeks, from March 30 to June 7, 2026. Selected interns will be assigned across various public institutions under the city, including City Hall, district offices, libraries, and community service centers, where they will carry out a wide range of public duties. These will include general tasks such as organizing documents and providing civil service guidance, as well as specialized tasks such as video editing and producing promotional content for social media.
Working conditions are five days a week, seven hours per day. Wages will be calculated based on Goyang City’s 2026 living wage of 11,340 won per hour, and interns who work a full month are expected to receive approximately 1.9 million won.
Young people who wish to participate can apply online through the public job application page on the Goyang City Integrated Job Information Network from February 26 until 6 p.m. on March 5.
To ensure fairness in the selection process, candidates will first be chosen through a computerized random draw, followed by a second-stage review of documents and interviews. Priority applicants, such as recipients of basic livelihood security, lower-income households, and single-parent families, will be allocated separately to provide wider opportunities for young people from vulnerable groups.
The final selection results will be announced at 5 p.m. on March 9, 2026, in the “News” section of the Goyang City Hall website, and successful applicants will also be notified individually by text message.
An official from Goyang City said, “We hope this administrative internship will be a valuable period for young people to understand practical administrative work and develop their capabilities,” adding, “We look forward to strong interest and applications from many local young people with passion and sincerity.”
