Gwangju Seo-gu Council Chairperson Jeon Seungil Receives "2026 Korea Voter Award" Jeon Seungil, Chairman of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council

Jeon Seungil, Chairperson of Gwangju Seo-gu Council, received the "2026 Korea Voter Award," gaining external recognition for the achievements of responsible politics in local councils and for his on-site, field-centered legislative activities.

This award was conferred in celebration of the 15th Voters' Day, based on selection by Voter Citizens Action, the Korean League of Women Voters, and more than 290 professional organizations, civil society groups, and small and medium-sized business representatives. It is granted after a comprehensive evaluation of contributions to the development of the nation and local communities, as well as to the enhancement of the rights and interests of self-employed business owners and small merchants.

In particular, Jeon was the only recipient selected among council members from the five autonomous district councils in Gwangju, adding further significance to the award.

As a member of the 9th Gwangju Seo-gu Council, Jeon has consistently carried out field-centered legislative activities closely tied to residents' daily lives. He has reviewed policies in the areas of welfare, safety, and the local economy; reflected residents' opinions in council affairs through meetings, roundtables, and visits to sites where civil complaints arise; and taken the lead in improving systems to enhance the effectiveness of policies supporting small merchants and self-employed business owners.

In his acceptance remarks, Jeon stated, "I believe this award is not a personal honor, but the result we created together with the residents of Seo-gu," adding, "I will continue to build a trustworthy council through responsible legislative activities and policies that provide practical help in residents' lives."

Meanwhile, through his active legislative work, Jeon has been recognized for his diligent and responsible service, receiving numerous awards and commendations from various institutions and organizations, including the "Korea Local Council Service Award" hosted by the Gwangju Autonomous District Council Chairs' Council, four consecutive "Local Council Grand Prize" awards from Law Journal, and the "Local Autonomy Evaluation Council Grand Prize."
