For Busan New Port and North Port stakeholders...
Focus on power facility diagnostics and electric shock prevention
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sang-keun) announced on the 26th that it held a "Technical Training to Prevent Electrical Safety Accidents" at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) on the 25th to ensure the safety of port users and operate Busan Port without serious industrial accidents.
The training was conducted for stakeholders including container terminal operators at Busan New Port (Piers 1, 3, and 4) and North Port (Shingamman, Gamman, and Shinsundae), personnel in charge of work at the 154kV substations at New Port and North Port, and electrical safety managers.
Recently, Busan Port has seen a steady increase in power demand due to port automation and the transition to eco-friendly cargo-handling equipment. As a result, the importance of providing a stable, uninterrupted power supply 24 hours a day, 365 days a year has grown, and the need for systematic safety management to prevent electrical fires and electric shock accidents has also increased significantly.
Busan Port Authority plans to provide a total of four technical training sessions this year, including this one. The main topics include: ▲ power facility monitoring systems ▲ live-line diagnostic technology for power equipment ▲ understanding of power systems and power supply facilities ▲ analysis of the causes of electric shock and sharing of accident cases.
This session focused on sharing the causes and major cases of electrical safety accidents and providing practical, field-oriented management methods to prevent electric shock. By disseminating inspection methods and safety rules that can be applied immediately on site, the training is expected to help raise safety awareness among on-site managers and strengthen their practical capabilities.
Song Sang-keun, President of Busan Port Authority, said, "To prevent accidents, pre-inspections by port workers and everyday awareness of safety are more important than anything else," adding, "I hope this training will serve as an opportunity to establish a culture of electrical safety within Busan Port and prevent accidents."
