Jeonguk Jangaein Chabyeol Cheolpye Yeondae (Jeonjangyeon) is holding a press conference in front of Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 26th to submit a group complaint against Seoul Transportation Corporation related to "illegal forced eviction and violence". On the morning of the 26th, Jeonjangyeon held a press conference near Hyehwa Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul, stating that "employees of the corporation, who do not have investigative police authority or the power to exercise coercive force, used ruthless physical force against activists."
Jeonjangyeon claims that during the campaign at Hyehwa Station on the 9th, five employees of the corporation forcibly dragged activists away, and in the process, activists were injured, including hitting their heads on the floor. Accordingly, Jeonjangyeon submitted a complaint to Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul, requesting an investigation of the employees on charges including assault, bodily injury, and property damage.
Jeonjangyeon urged, "The corporation must officially apologize for the violence that took place on site and stop illegal forcible evictions." Since last month, Jeonjangyeon has halted its subway boarding protests and has been holding a daily campaign at 8 a.m. on the platform of Hyehwa Station, calling for the guarantee of mobility rights for persons with disabilities.
In contrast, Seoul Transportation Corporation maintains that the measures taken at the time were an appropriate response in accordance with its manual. An official from the corporation countered, "The on-site measures at the time were a normal response based on the law to ensure the safety of citizens, and they were a legitimate enforcement action, not an excessive response."
