Immediately after registering, preliminary candidate Jeong held a press conference in the Chuncheon City Hall briefing room and stated, "The future of Chuncheon must be proven not by empty slogans but by concrete numbers," adding, "I will complete the engine of companies, jobs, and living conditions to create a structure in which the population naturally increases."
Preliminary candidate Jeong, a former Vice President of Samsung Electronics, repeatedly emphasized "numbers" and "results" at the press conference. He expressed his determination to transplant the efficiency of corporate management into city administration, saying, "I will set numerical targets for every project, make schedules and budgets transparently public, and have our performance evaluated on a quarterly basis."
In particular, he defined himself as "a marketer mayor who sells Chuncheon to the world" and pledged to transform Chuncheon from a city that simply relies on its budget into an economic hub that creates private investment and opportunities.
Preliminary candidate Jeong laid out four concrete action plans to drive change in Chuncheon.
First, by fostering future-oriented industries, he will promote the attraction of a chain of companies that combine location, talent, and capital around five key industrial pillars: AI, data, semiconductors, bio-health, and the defense industry.
As for redesigning transportation infrastructure, he announced a complete overhaul of public transportation routes so that Chuncheon becomes a "destination" rather than just a "stopover" in preparation for the extension of the KTX line to Sokcho. His plan is to build a dense transfer network centered on Chuncheon Station to connect the old downtown and tourist attractions into a single whole.
For AI-driven administrative innovation, he will introduce a "one-stop AI civil service center" to more than double the speed of administrative processing. In this high-efficiency system, AI will classify documents and provide guidance, while public officials focus on on-site problem-solving and decision-making.
As a cultural industry platform, he will foster the area stretching from Camp Page to Songam-dong not as a simple event venue but as a "profitable cultural and sports content industry platform" that creates jobs.
Preliminary candidate Jeong diagnosed that "If we fail to break the current structure, in which young people leave and self-employed small business owners barely survive by hanging on, there is no future for Chuncheon," and he declared, "Within 100 days of taking office, I will launch a one-stop investment and licensing system so that citizens can directly feel the 'speed at which things get done'."

Local political observers analyze that preliminary candidate Jeong's declaration is aimed at appealing to voters who yearn for pragmatic change, by simultaneously highlighting his administrative experience as vice governor for economic affairs and his hands-on sense from working at a global company.
Preliminary candidate Jeong appealed for support, saying, "I will prove myself not with words but with results," and "Together with you, the citizens, I will open the door to the Special Economic City of Chuncheon."
Meanwhile, starting with his registration as a candidate on this day, preliminary candidate Jeong plans to continue a vigorous schedule, including visiting sites related to people's livelihoods and listening to citizens' voices.
