NBS, Up 4 Percentage Points from Two Weeks Ago
Progressives 92%, Moderates 73%... Conservatives Also 37% Positive
Democratic Party 45% vs People Power Party 17%

President Lee Jaemyung's job approval rating has reached the high-60% range, marking the highest level since he took office.

According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted by Embrain Public, KSTAT Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research from February 23 to 25 on 1,002 men and women aged 18 or older nationwide via mobile phone interviews (margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, response rate 14.9%), President Lee's approval rating came in at 67%, up 4 percentage points from the survey conducted two weeks earlier. NBS stated, "The positive evaluation of state affairs is the highest since the president took office." The negative evaluation stood at 25%, down 5 percentage points from two weeks ago.

By ideological orientation, support among progressives and moderates was found to be 92% and 73%, respectively. Among conservatives, the approval rating was 37%, while the negative evaluation was 54%.

Expectations for the administration's national vision have also grown. In response to the question, "Do you think our country is heading in the right direction?" 63% answered affirmatively; 60% said "democracy is developing"; 60% said "the values of fairness and common sense are being well realized"; 56% said "the Korean Peninsula is becoming more peaceful and secure"; and 55% said "the economy is stabilizing and improving." All of these figures have improved compared not only with those under the previous Yoon Sukyeol administration, but also with those from the third week of August last year during the current administration.

In terms of party support, the approval rating for the Democratic Party of Korea was 45%, up 4 percentage points from two weeks earlier. Support for the People Power Party was 17%, down 5 percentage points. The Cho Kuk Innovation Party recorded 4%, the Reform New Party 3%, and the Progressive Party 1%.

Regarding the first-instance court's sentencing of former President Yoon Sukyeol to life imprisonment on charges of leading an insurrection, 42% viewed the sentence as "too lenient compared to the charges." Those who said it was "appropriate" accounted for 26%, while 23% responded that "it is wrong because he is not guilty."

Concerning the abolition of the temporary suspension of heavier capital gains tax on multi-home owners, 62% said it was the right measure, while 27% said it was the wrong measure.
