On the 25th, a town hall meeting was held at Gyeonggi Unity in Dasan-dong to announce the Gyeonggi-style public housing vision, followed by an on-site briefing session on the Toegyewon redevelopment and maintenance project. Preliminary candidate Kim listened to opinions on-site, expressing his agreement that public housing and maintenance projects should serve as a foundation for transforming the city into an integrated care city, going beyond mere housing supply.
Preliminary candidate Kim also called on Gyeonggi Province to play an active role in the early start of construction for the extension of Subway Line 9, a long-cherished project for Namyangju citizens. He particularly stressed that "spatial welfare is ultimately completed as time welfare," adding, "Since transportation is the core infrastructure that determines the time in citizens' lives, practical measures are needed to swiftly proceed with bidding and administrative procedures for the sections overseen by Gyeonggi Province."
Governor Kim Dongyeon also stated that he is aware of the Line 9 issue and will continue to review the progress of the project.
Preliminary candidate Kim Hanjung added, "Gyeonggi Province and Namyangju must work closely together to bring about changes that citizens can truly feel," and said, "We will seek ways to fundamentally transform Namyangju through a spatial welfare strategy in which transportation, housing, and maintenance advance together."
