Youth Network Launch Ceremony and Youth Forum Held
30 First-Term Members Appointed...Three Subcommittees Begin Full-Scale Activities
Civic Discussion on Local Communities, Startups, and Welfare
"The voices of young people will shape Chuncheon’s policies."
Chuncheon City (Mayor Yuk Donghan) will hold the "2026 Chuncheon Youth Network Launch Ceremony and Youth Forum" on the 27th at Commons Field Annyeong House. Earlier, the city selected 30 members for the first Youth Network through an open call. The event has been organized to formalize a communication channel where young people participate not only as beneficiaries of policy but as designers, and to explore the "Future Strategy for Chuncheon, a City Where Young People Stay."
The event will consist of Part 1, the launch ceremony, and Part 2, the youth forum. In Part 1, the official launch will be announced through the presentation of letters of appointment and a performance. In the subsequent Part 2 forum, Professor Mo Jongrin, an expert in research on the domestic local creator ecosystem, will deliver a keynote speech on the theme of "The Future of Local Communities and Youth." In addition, CEO Won Gyuhee will give a presentation on "Ways for Youth to Participate in Policy and Their Roles in the AI Era," and CEO Kim Gyuhyun will present on "Local Startups: Chuncheon as Seen by Local Youth." In the final segment, a town hall meeting, experts in various fields such as jobs, startups, and welfare will freely exchange opinions with young people to seek ways to improve Chuncheon’s unique living conditions for youth.
The first-term members will be active until the end of this year in three subcommittees: youth culture and education, youth jobs and startups, and youth life and welfare. They will gather opinions from local youth, develop policy ideas, and propose them to the city. Outstanding proposals will be linked to programs such as the participatory budgeting system and will be reflected in actual municipal administration.
Meanwhile, Chuncheon City operated a Youth-Friendly City Promotion Team last year to review its existing youth policies. This year, the city expanded this effort by newly establishing the "Youth Network," a youth-led participatory body.
An official from Chuncheon City said, "A city where young people stay begins with a city where young people participate," and added, "We ask for great interest from citizens in this event for the future of young people in Chuncheon."
