Comprehensive support including wedding photography and styling
Stronger support for themed weddings such as small and eco-friendly ceremonies
Expanded partner network for wedding operations and enhanced services
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is launching comprehensive support for engaged couples, including wedding venues and photo shoots. The city will utilize a variety of spaces across Seoul and plans to increase the number of partner companies that help operate wedding ceremonies.
On the 26th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will fully implement its "2026 Comprehensive Marriage Support" program, which includes support for wedding ceremonies for engaged couples, as well as wedding photography, styling, and the promotion of wedding culture.
Previously, in the past year, the city expanded the number of venues for the "More Beautiful Wedding" program, such as Namsan-view cafes and Hanok houses, to around 60 locations and provided 1 million won in equipment support per wedding. Through this program, 280 couples held weddings last year, and 506 couples (as of February) are scheduled to get married this year.
In line with this, this year the city will support distinctive wedding styles, including: "Small Weddings" that encourage the spread of small-scale ceremonies with fewer than 100 guests; "Traditional Weddings" that blend tradition and modernity; and "Eco-friendly Weddings" that promote the use of reusable items and link to public transportation campaigns. In addition, among wedding venues located at five major attractions such as Namsan and the Hangang River, time slots without scheduled ceremonies will be offered as locations where engaged couples can take wedding photos. Depending on the response, the city plans to gradually expand the number of photo-shoot locations.
To further activate wedding photo shoots at major landmark wedding venues, from May onward the city will support photography costs and space styling for engaged couples who are the "first wedding photo shoot" users at these venues. Couples who hold the "first wedding ceremony" at a "More Beautiful Wedding" venue will receive up to 3 million won in styling support. By providing basic styling for the "More Beautiful Wedding" program, such as decorations, the city aims to lower the entry barrier for using these venues and to widely promote their appeal by sharing real wedding cases.
To broaden the choices available to engaged couples, the city will also expand the number of wedding-operation partner companies from the current 10 to 15 starting this year. In addition, to enhance the overall quality and satisfaction of wedding services, it will make it mandatory to apply Fair Trade Commission notices and standard contract terms, and will continuously refine the service system using satisfaction surveys.
Ma Chae-sook, Director General of the Women and Family Policy Office of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "'More Beautiful Wedding' is recognized for its symbolism and value, as it allows weddings to be remembered for a long time together with the city, rather than as one-off events," adding, "We will continue to create an environment that makes it easier to get married so that engaged couples do not face difficulties right at the threshold of marriage."
Meanwhile, since the "More Beautiful Wedding" program was launched as a pilot project by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2023, demand has steadily increased. There were 75 cases in 2023, 155 cases in 2024, and 280 cases in 2025, and the number of reservations for this year already stands at 506.
