Seminar to Be Held on March 18
Exploring Ways to Overcome the Construction Industry's Limitations
The Construction & Economy Research Institute of Korea will hold a seminar titled "Housing and Cities, Strategies for Rebirth" on March 18 at the Construction Association Hall in Gangnam-gu, focusing on the structural limitations and innovation of the construction industry.
This seminar has been planned to overcome the growing limitations of the construction industry, which are being exacerbated by a prolonged low-growth trend, increasing market uncertainty, widening regional disparities, and demographic changes, and to re-establish the overall order of the housing and urban ecosystem.
The Construction & Economy Research Institute of Korea plans to present concrete action plans to strengthen execution, marking the first anniversary of the "Construction Rebirth" vision announced last year in line with the 30th anniversary of its founding.
Since 2022, the institute has been conducting specialized research in areas such as finance, smart construction, and ESG, building theoretical and policy frameworks for the rebirth of the construction industry. Based on this, it has proposed three core principles for a fundamental paradigm shift in the industry (▲ from conflict and competition to a fair and mutually beneficial industry, ▲ from segmentation and fragmentation to a convergent and expansive industry, ▲ from regulation and control to an autonomous and innovative industry).
At this seminar, starting with the first session on "Housing and Urban Sector" on March 18, presentations will continue on April 7 under the theme "Construction Rebirth 2.0: Major AI Transformation in Construction." The first seminar will consist of presentations that share the current administration's policy direction and provide structural diagnoses of the market, as well as practical supply measures. It will explore directions for policies and the market in the housing and urban sectors, from actual groundbreaking to occupancy.
Lee Chungjae, President of the Construction & Economy Research Institute of Korea, said, "Last year, under the awareness that the construction industry needs not just 'partial improvements' but a 'complete reset,' the institute announced its 'Construction Rebirth' vision," adding, "I hope this seminar will serve as a public forum to comprehensively explore policies and industrial strategies for stabilizing the housing market and achieving sustainable urban development."
