AI agent suggests product attributes and shopping guides
Applicable categories to expand to beauty, food, and more in the first half of the year
Naver has officially launched an "artificial intelligence (AI) agent" that supports personalized product search and shopping based on user data.
Naver (NAVER) announced on the 26th that it is introducing a beta service of a "Shopping AI Agent" in its AI shopping application, the "Naver Plus Store" app.
To begin with, Naver will provide the Shopping AI Agent features mainly in the digital, living, and lifestyle categories, and plans to rapidly expand the applicable categories to beauty and food within the first half of the year.
The newly released version 1.0 of the "Shopping AI Agent" is characterized by the AI agent suggesting product attributes and a shopping exploration guide when a user enters shopping keywords. When users type shopping keywords in the Naver Plus Store app, the Shopping AI Agent is activated and presents a shopping exploration guide or suggests that users ask the AI.
For example, if a user searches for a sofa, the AI agent analyzes the user's personalized shopping history, summarizes various buying tips based on the number of users, space size, and material, and then introduces suitable brands.
If more detailed exploration is needed, users can continue shopping through a conversation with the AI agent. When a user expresses a specific shopping purpose, such as "Recommend a sofa for a newlywed home. I live with a dog," the AI agent analyzes product specifications and purchase reviews, explores multiple product groups, and proposes optimized products.
Naver plans to gradually upgrade the Shopping AI Agent by adding features such as real-time shopping trend analysis, automatic recommendations of related products, and adding items to the shopping cart.
To efficiently handle the entire process from product exploration to comparison and recommendation, the Naver Shopping AI Agent organically connects sub-agents for each stage. In this process, the company explained that it has secured, with its own technological capabilities, a commerce-specialized large language model (LLM) called "Shopping Intelligence," which has been trained on data such as prices, delivery information, product attributes, and user preferences accumulated in the shopping ecosystem.
Choi Suyeon, CEO of Naver, said, "We will enable users to enjoy a smarter shopping experience by having the Shopping Agent accompany them throughout their entire shopping journey," adding, "Focusing on the Shopping AI Agent, we will work to create new business and creative environments through an AI convergence ecosystem that organically connects commerce, content, and data."
