Recommendation submissions accepted until April 10
Candidates are being recruited for the 12th Korea Public Officials Award, which is intended to recommend public officials who have actively devoted themselves and served the people and achieved outstanding results.
On February 26, the Ministry of Personnel Management announced that it will accept recommendations for candidates for the 12th Korea Public Officials Award from the general public until April 10. The Korea Public Officials Award selects public officials who have dedicated themselves to the nation and its people throughout their public service careers and who have successfully carried out major national policy tasks, thereby serving as role models in the public sector.
Any citizen can submit a recommendation. Recommendations can be made through the online application window provided on the Ministry of Personnel Management's "Stories of Proud Public Officials" website, or on the websites of central government agencies, metropolitan cities and provinces, and city and provincial offices of education.
Recommendation forms can also be mailed to the Ministry of Personnel Management or submitted in person by visiting eup, myeon, and dong community service centers nationwide, and can be submitted at any time even after the official recommendation period through the ministry's website. Recommendations submitted within the period will be included in the review for the 12th Public Officials Award, while recommendations received thereafter will be automatically included in the review for next year's Public Officials Award.
However, except for the ministry's website, the online and in-person (offline) application windows operated by each institution will be available only until April 10, the end of this year's recommendation period. Candidates recommended by citizens will be forwarded to their respective agencies, undergo review by each agency's merit review committee, and then be re-recommended to the Ministry of Personnel Management. After the ministry's review and selection process, the final awardees will be determined. Depending on their contributions, selected public officials will receive decorations, medals, Presidential Citations, or Prime Minister's Citations.
Choi Dongsuk, Minister of Personnel Management, said, "Through the Korea Public Officials Award, we have been able to identify exemplary public servants who have devoted themselves to improving the lives of the people," adding, "We look forward to the active participation of the public so that public officials who have worked in step with the people and achieved excellent results can be recommended."
