Geochang County to Open Gajo Hot Spring Foot Bath Experience Facility on March 1... Expected to Boost Wellness Tourism

Free Operation Until the End of November... Strengthening the Four-Season, Stay-Type Tourism Base Linked to the "2026 Visit Geochang Year"

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced that it will operate the Gajo Hot Spring Tourist Site foot bath experience facility free of charge from March 1 to the end of November, so that visitors to Gajo Hot Spring can enjoy the hot spring water without burden.

The Gajo Hot Spring foot bath experience facility is a healing space that operates every year from spring to autumn. Its operating hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and it is closed every Monday for facility inspections.

The foot bath, located at the entrance of the Gajo Hot Spring Tourist Site in Ilbu-ri, Gajo-myeon, has a total area of 270 square meters and can accommodate about 100 people at the same time. It is equipped with two hot-water baths, two raw-water baths, and a washing area for feet, and has been designed so that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can comfortably enjoy a hot spring foot bath.

In particular, it is supplied with strongly alkaline hot spring water with a pH of 9.7, making it a place where visitors can easily experience the benefits of Gajo Hot Spring. It has gained a strong response, with around 18,000 people visiting last year.

The county is promoting healing tourism programs in connection with the creation of flower fields in autumn and, in line with the "2026 Visit Geochang Year," is also carrying out various projects to vitalize tourism throughout all four seasons.

Ok Jin-suk, head of the Tourism Promotion Division, said, "We will foster this area as a wellness tourism hub by strengthening connections between the Gajo Hot Spring foot bath experience facility and nearby tourist attractions," adding, "We will work to boost stay-type tourism through distinctive program operations."

Geochang County expects that operating this foot bath experience facility will help meet the demand for healing- and therapy-centered tourism, expand the foundation for stay-type tourism, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
