Certified as an Accredited University Until February 2030
Sangmyung University has received official certification for its internationalization capabilities, including the recruitment of international students.
On February 27, Sangmyung University announced that it had been selected as a certified university in the ‘International Education Quality Assurance System’ (IEQAS) evaluation, which is overseen by the Ministry of Education. Through this certification, the university will hold the status of a certified institution from March 2026 until February 2030.
The International Education Quality Assurance System is a government program that officially certifies universities with outstanding internationalization capabilities, such as attracting and managing international students. The assessment is conducted based on both quantitative and qualitative indicators directly linked to a university’s competencies, including student enrollment rates, dropout rates, management of illegal stay rates, academic support systems, and support for employment and career planning for international students. Certification is granted to universities that receive excellent evaluations in these areas.
Sangmyung University was recognized for establishing an outstanding management system for international students, including Korean language programs to help them adapt, cultural experience programs, and tailored services. As a result of this certification, Sangmyung University will benefit from simplified visa issuance processes for international students and preferential selection for the government scholarship program for foreign students (GKS). The university also plans to further strengthen its support system for international students and expand dedicated departments for them.
