Long Hitter Choi Seungbin: "I Really Like Them"

Born in May 2001, Choi Seungbin is a long hitter. Since debuting on the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour in 2022, he has leveraged his powerful tee shots to win the 66th KPGA Championship in June 2023 and The Charity Classic in October 2025. He is not particularly big in stature, standing 177 cm tall and weighing 72 kg. In tournaments, he averages 300 yards off the tee. In 2023, his average driving distance was 311.224 yards, ranking him third in this category.

Choi Seungbin has a fast swing. For his golf shoes, he had only used models equipped with spikes that offer excellent ground traction. A pair of spikeless golf shoes has now captured his heart: FJ's (FootJoy's) new PRO/SL with Z-TEC golf shoes released this year. He actually used them during his recent training camp in Vietnam. "This is my first time wearing spikeless golf shoes," Choi explained. "I had always believed that golf shoes with spikes were more helpful in making my lower body more stable."

However, Choi Seungbin has become completely enamored with the appeal of the PRO/SL with Z-TEC. "I was impressed by how firmly my lower body felt supported during the swing," he said, adding, "I could clearly feel improved stability and traction at the moment of impact in particular."

Choi also expressed his satisfaction with the golf shoe fitting system "FitLAB." "In the past, I wore golf shoes with a wide width, but after checking with FitLAB, it turned out that my feet are actually narrow," he said. "After switching to golf shoes with a narrower width, my performance improved." This year, Choi will serve as a brand ambassador representing FJ alongside Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour players Ko Jiu and Ko Jiwon.

The PRO/SL with Z-TEC is a next-generation golf shoe completed based on feedback from tour players. From the upper structure to the traction system and cushioning design, every structural element of the shoe has been newly re-engineered. Areas that move have been made more flexible, areas requiring cushioning have been made more comfortable, and areas needing support have been made more rigid. For the first time in Korea, width options have been expanded to Medium (M), Wide (W), and Extra Wide (XW). FJ expects this product to redefine the standard for spikeless golf shoes.
