Andong Vaccine Industrial Complex Kicks Off... Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Forum To Be Held Andong National Gyeongguk University

This forum has been organized to explore linkage strategies between domestic and overseas research institutes and industries to invigorate the ecosystem of the North Gyeongsang Province vaccine industry cluster, and to develop plans for expanding the regenerative bio sector led by the provincial government. Through this cooperative venue involving industry, academia, research institutes, and government, the expansion of a global research cooperation network and the creation of joint research成果 are anticipated.

Major institutions and experts in the field of vaccines and therapeutics will attend the event, including Andong National Gyeongguk University, the International Vaccine Institute, the National Center for Advanced Vaccine Development, the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, the Gyeongbuk Institute for Bio-Industry, the Animal Cell Verification Support Center, SK bioscience, North Gyeongsang Province, and Andong City.

The main program will cover in depth: strategies to revitalize the Andong Bio-Life National Industrial Complex; measures to strengthen linkages between the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology and the vaccine industry cluster; directions for global vaccine development and international cooperation; and ways to connect research and development infrastructure, such as non-animal-method-based preclinical evaluation, with industry. This will be followed by an expert panel discussion on building a cooperation system and execution strategies for the North Gyeongsang Province vaccine industry cluster.

Lim Jaehwan, head of the Glocal University Promotion Group at Andong National Gyeongguk University, said, "This will serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among national vaccine research infrastructures and to derive plans for invigorating the North Gyeongsang Province bio-vaccine cluster and building an advanced bio-life industrial complex," adding, "Based on cooperation among institutions, we will continue to work hard to create an ecosystem for vaccine and therapeutic research and development."

Yoon Sunwoo, head of the Vaccine Convergence Innovation Center, stated, "Through the Glocal University vaccine convergence program, we will promote systematic linkages of institutional infrastructure within the cluster and focus on building an integrated vaccine innovation platform based on cooperation among industry, academia, research institutes, and medical institutions."

This forum is being evaluated as a venue that goes beyond academic exchange to seek ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the Andong Bio-Life National Industrial Complex and to build an execution-oriented cooperation model. Attention is focusing on whether Andong can leap forward as a national hub for the vaccine and therapeutic industry by redefining the role of the regional vaccine industry infrastructure and presenting directions for establishing a sustainable cooperation network.
