This visit was arranged to directly examine the express cargo customs clearance procedures carried out at in-house facilities and to listen to difficulties faced by related industries. Currently, within the jurisdiction of Incheon Airport, nine express cargo companies operate their own facilities equipped with X-ray scanners, automatic sorters, narcotics and explosives detectors, and other equipment. To operate such facilities, companies must meet requirements such as having capital of at least 500 million won and maintaining a satisfactory level of legal compliance.

Commissioner Park reviewed the entire process from cargo intake and sorting to X-ray screening and release, while encouraging on-site employees. In particular, he emphasized the importance of establishing an internal risk management system not only to provide rapid customs clearance services but also to block security-threatening items such as narcotics and firearms.

Commissioner Park said, "Express cargo companies must faithfully fulfill their role on the front line of border surveillance by thoroughly monitoring and selecting high-risk cargo," adding, "We will continue to actively communicate with the companies and spare no effort in providing attention and support from the customs administration side."
