Korea Gas Corporation has received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in recognition of its achievements in responding to the climate crisis. As the only energy public institution selected as an excellent organization in the mitigation and adaptation category, it has demonstrated its greenhouse gas reduction capabilities externally.

Korea Gas Corporation announced that on the 25th, it was selected as an excellent organization in the mitigation and adaptation category at the "2026 Korea Green Climate Awards" ceremony held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award.

The "Korea Green Climate Awards" was established in 2010 to commend individuals and organizations that have contributed to nationwide climate change response and the creation of a sustainable carbon-neutral society. It is hosted by the National Assembly Forum on Climate Change and sponsored by the Korea Environment Corporation. Marking its 16th anniversary this year, the awards received applications from a total of 153 organizations, of which only 13 were finally selected.

Amid fierce competition, Korea Gas Corporation was the only energy public institution to receive the ministerial award in the mitigation and adaptation category. In the evaluation, its wide-ranging efforts were highly recognized, including establishing a responsible foundation for carbon-neutral business sites, supporting the expansion of carbon reduction in the private sector, responding to carbon-neutral regulations through international cooperation, and carrying out climate crisis response activities that the public can tangibly experience.

Specifically, based on its own greenhouse gas reduction roadmap, Korea Gas Corporation has expanded "natural gas pressure reduction power generation," which utilizes pressure energy generated in the natural gas supply process. It has also achieved systematic reduction results, such as earning a "Leadership (A-)" rating in the climate change category of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2025.

In addition, it has developed national standards for carbon reduction using unused LNG cold energy, laying the foundation for new businesses such as data center cooling, and, as the national agency in charge of hydrogen, it is focusing on building hydrogen distribution infrastructure and securing core technologies. Through these efforts, the corporation is being recognized for leading the green transformation (GX) of domestic industries.

An official from Korea Gas Corporation said, "It is meaningful that our continued efforts in greenhouse gas reduction and climate crisis adaptation have borne fruit," adding, "We will continue to lead carbon neutrality in the natural gas industry through change and innovation and play a leading role in implementing national carbon neutrality."
