Roundtable Held to Hear Opinions on Improving the Operation of Disability Activity Support Agencies and Personnel

The Welfare and Environment Committee of the Daejeon City Council held a roundtable meeting on February 24 in the Communication Room on the third floor of the council building, chaired by Assemblywoman Hwang Kyeonga (People Power Party, proportional representative), to hear opinions on improving the operation of disability activity support agencies and personnel.

The roundtable was organized to discuss policy tasks for the progressive operation of the Disability Activity Support Program by identifying the operational realities of disability activity support agencies and the issues related to improving the treatment of dedicated personnel and activity support workers.

The meeting was moderated by Assemblywoman Hwang Kyeonga, with Professor Kim Donggi of the Department of Social Welfare at Mokwon University delivering the keynote presentation. This was followed by a discussion session attended by heads of disability activity support agencies, dedicated personnel, activity support workers, and Noh Sangkwon, Director of the Daejeon City Disability Welfare Division.

In the keynote presentation, the speaker emphasized that the disability activity support system is a core制度 that supports the independent living of persons with disabilities, analyzed the current status of activity support in Daejeon, and presented issues such as structural difficulties in agency operations, challenges in securing personnel, and response tasks arising from the implementation of the individual budget system.

The need for institutional improvements to enhance the treatment of activity support workers and to stabilize the supply of dedicated personnel was also proposed.

Assemblywoman Hwang Kyeonga stated, "The Disability Activity Support Program is an important social safety net that supports the daily lives and independence of persons with disabilities," adding, "Taking this roundtable as an opportunity, the council will do its part to establish an institutional foundation that enables agencies and personnel to operate in a stable manner and to build a sustainable activity support system."
