Gimcheon Sangmu FC (CEO Lee Jaeha) will play its Hana Bank K League 1 2026 Round 1 home match against Pohang Steelers at 4:30 p.m. on February 28 at Gimcheon Stadium.
Standing on the starting line of a new season with a new head coach, Gimcheon Sangmu is determined to showcase both change and winning football in front of its home fans. In addition, with singer Jadu taking the ceremonial kickoff, a special halftime performance, and giveaways of the hugely popular “Dujjonku,” the club is welcoming home supporters and heightening anticipation among Gimcheon citizens and football fans for the first home match of the season.
◆ A new beginning, all eyes on Head Coach Joo Seungjin’s “new Gimcheon Sangmu”!
The biggest change for Gimcheon Sangmu this season is the appointment of new Head Coach Joo Seungjin. Regarded as the right person to inject fresh energy into the team, Joo has signaled an “active style of football” built on intense pressing, quick transitions between attack and defense, and organized movement.
The addition of 12th-class rookie players is also bringing freshness and vitality to the squad. Led by Lee Sangheon, who was selected in the 2024 K League Best 11, these new recruits, armed with spirit and determination, are creating new competition within the existing roster and injecting tension and momentum throughout the team. At the same time, the 10th- and 11th-class players are firmly holding the core. Having already internalized Gimcheon Sangmu’s identity, they are maintaining the team’s balance and serving as a stabilizing axis based on their match experience and tactical understanding.
To realize “a happy Gimcheon united through football,” the ticket book donations made by the coaching staff, including Head Coach Joo Seungjin, add a special touch to the new Gimcheon Sangmu. Ahead of this home opener, the coaches are personally purchasing and donating ticket books to provide local children with the opportunity to watch professional sports. As a result, attention is focused on Joo Seungjin’s first match in charge, which aims to share the joy of unity through a new brand of football.
◆ “Ja~ Dujjonku!” with guest singer Jadu: plenty to watch on the pitch and plenty to enjoy off it!
This home opener is packed with a variety of events for fans visiting the stadium. A range of home match activities has been prepared, including an appearance by guest singer Jadu and Dujjonku giveaways. On the day, Jadu will visit Gimcheon Stadium and personally hand out Dujjonku to 20 fans selected through story submissions. She will then add to the atmosphere with the ceremonial kickoff and a halftime performance. There will also be a Dujjonku giveaway event riding a wave of explosive popularity, with 1,000 Dujjonku given out to both advance purchasers and on-site ticket buyers.
Before the match, the military band company of the Army 50th Division will perform a ceremonial “declaration of intent,” further elevating the opening-day atmosphere. A special prize draw featuring home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, including TVs sponsored by the NH Nonghyup Gimcheon Branch, will add to the excitement. For young fans, there will be a Little Shoong Zone challenge and fan-participation “insider concept” booth events, which are expected to provide fun for families attending together. Season-long annual events will also begin. MATCH PAGE postcards will be given out so that fans can record their memories of home matches.
Alongside the coaching staff’s ticket book donations, Gimcheon Jeil Hospital and Susa Bulpae will also invite local children by donating ticket books, sharing the happiness of being united through football.
In addition, there will be a paper sticks giveaway and signature campaign to rally support for the transition to a citizen-owned club, as well as a “Turn the Stadium into a Sea of Red” campaign using Shoong cheering sticks. Fans can take part in Polaroid photo events around the stadium and enjoy even more fun through the “Prize Explosion” shooting dart event.
During the match, attendance checks will be conducted for 2026 season members and children’s season members, and there will be hands-on programs such as a make-your-own cheering clapper activity and temporary tattoo experience booths. On top of that, a variety of food trucks will be on-site, allowing fans who visit the stadium to enjoy a festival-like day that combines football, food, and interactive experiences.
Meanwhile, the match will be available to watch on ENA SPORTS and Coupang Play.
