Kim Dongyeon Cancels Jeon Hangil Concert for Three Reasons...What Are They?

The Lie by Jeon Hangil's Side about a "Purely Cultural Performance"
Events Deemed Unacceptable under Social Norms
The Spirit of the March 1st Independence Movement Must Not Be Contaminated by "Yoon Again"

The event titled "Song of Freedom in Commemoration of the March 1 Independence Movement Day" (commonly known as the Jeon Hangil Concert), which was to be held at KINTEX in Ilsan under the leadership of Jeon Hangil, has ultimately been canceled.

Earlier, on the evening of the 23rd, Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged KINTEX to immediately cancel the venue rental for the Jeon Hangil concert.

Through a written briefing on the 24th, Gyeonggi Province spokesperson Kang Minseok explained that Governor Kim Dongyeon strongly pressed KINTEX to cancel the venue rental, citing three reasons: lies by Jeon Hangil’s side, violation of social norms, and contamination of the March 1 spirit due to the "Yoon Again" rally. He added that President Lee Minwoo, who was on an overseas business trip, promptly decided to cancel the rental.

The lies told by Jeon’s side played a major role in Governor Kim Dongyeon’s decision to call for the cancellation of this venue rental.

According to Gyeonggi Province and KINTEX, in all official administrative procedures to rent KINTEX, Jeon’s side completely omitted any mention related to "Yoon Again" and "disguised" the event as a pure cultural performance featuring singers.

To rent an exhibition hall at KINTEX, an "allocation application form" must be submitted to KINTEX. In the "allocation request official document" confirmed by KINTEX, the event is also described as a pure cultural performance featuring singers.

On his YouTube channel, Jeon said, "Just like at the August 15 Freedom Concert, this concert too will be an event where freedom-loving patriotic conservative citizens gather to show support for President Yoon Suk Yeol and to express resistance to the life sentence ruling," adding, "We will cry out at the top of our lungs, 'Criminal Lee Jaemyung, stand trial,' 'Long live President Yoon Suk Yeol,' 'Yoon Again,' and 'Eradicate election fraud.'"

"Social norms" also played a role in KINTEX’s decision to cancel this venue rental.

Under its internal rules, KINTEX stipulates that it may restrict the allocation of event venues for "events that are deemed difficult to accept under social norms."

Governor Kim Dongyeon has repeatedly stated that thorough eradication and stern punishment of forces involved in insurrection are necessary.

Spokesperson Kang Minseok said, "Governor Kim Dongyeon and Gyeonggi Province do not consider the 'Yoon Again rally,' which defends insurrection, to be consistent with social norms," adding, "That is why Governor Kim stated on Facebook yesterday that 'we must not allow the far-right delusional forces of Yoon Again to run rampant, and such things are even less acceptable in Gyeonggi Province.'"

KINTEX’s decision to cancel the venue rental is also related to the spirit of the March 1 Independence Movement.

KINTEX believes that Jeon’s side attempted to use lies and deception to proceed with the event in order to hold a Yoon Again rally that runs counter to social norms.

Spokesperson Kang warned, "According to media reports this morning, Jeon Hangil is claiming that the cancellation of the venue rental is 'oppression' against him," and continued, "In yet another delusion, he tried to contaminate the spirit of March 1 for the sake of 'Yoon Again.' He should apologize for this and exercise restraint."
