Fire in Naebalsan-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul
The police are investigating a suspected arson fire that occurred at an apartment in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
According to the police on February 22, at around 1:36 p.m. the previous day, a fire broke out on the 8th floor of a 20-story apartment building in Naebalsan-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, injuring two people.
A man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s sustained minor and serious injuries respectively and were transported to a hospital, and 20 apartment residents reportedly evacuated on their own.
The unit where the fire is believed to have started was completely destroyed, and household goods and other items were burned, causing property damage estimated at 15.21 million won. The fire was brought under control at around 2:01 p.m. by the fire authorities who were dispatched after receiving a report.
The police believe that the man in his 70s who was transported to the hospital may have attempted to set a fire in the living room using thinner, and plan to book him and investigate once his treatment is completed.
