Contract Signed with Oceania Shipping Company
Delivery Scheduled for May 2028
Cumulative Orders This Year: 8 Vessels Worth 1.9 Billion Dollars
Samsung Heavy Industries has won an order for one LNG carrier from a shipping company in the Oceania region.
Samsung Heavy Industries announced in a regulatory filing on the 20th that it had signed a contract to build one LNG carrier worth 368.0 billion won. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered by May 2028.
With this order, Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative order intake for this year stands at a total of eight vessels worth 1.9 billion dollars. This corresponds to 14% of its annual order target of 13.9 billion dollars.
By ship type, the eight vessels consist of three LNG carriers, two ethane carriers, two container ships, and one crude oil carrier. The figure also reflects the additional 400 million dollars from the increase in the preliminary work contract for offshore production facilities disclosed on the 13th.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "Orders for LNG carriers have been coming in smoothly since the beginning of the year," adding, "We plan to continue our strategy of selective ordering focused on high value-added vessels."
