Seo-gu District of Gwangju Metropolitan City has appointed the popular influencer "Sugar Rabbit" as its tourism ambassador to effectively promote local tourism resources that capture the district's unique tastes and charms. Seo-gu announced on the 20th that it has appointed Lee Dakyung, who is very active on social media platforms such as Instagram under the name "Sugar Rabbit," as the Seo-gu Tourism Ambassador and will fully implement a new promotion strategy tailored to the changing media environment.

With the recent spread of short and impactful short-form video-based content consumption, Seo-gu plans to enhance the effectiveness of its tourism promotion by collaborating with influencers who have strong influence on social media.

Lee Dakyung is a leading local influencer with 100,000 Instagram followers, gaining great popularity with videos focused on restaurants, festivals, and cultural content in the Gwangju and South Jeolla regions. Her restaurant-introduction content centered on mukbang (eating show) has drawn strong interest, with some videos surpassing 1 million views.

Over the next two years, Seo-gu plans to work with "Sugar Rabbit" to invigorate local tourism through various activities, including the production of tourism content and the promotion of major festivals and events.

Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang said, "We hope that Seo-gu's diverse attractions will become widely known both online and offline through the influencer's uniquely friendly and trendy perspective," adding, "Together with our ambassador, we will actively discover Seo-gu's differentiated tourism resources and develop Seo-gu into a tourist city where people want to stay and return."

Lee Dakyung said, "From Yangdong Traditional Market to Sangmu District, I plan to present Seo-gu's diverse resources through content tailored to the perspectives of Millennials & Gen Z," and added, "I will create the appeal of spaces that draw people in and widely promote Seo-gu's unique sensibility to make it a tourist city people want to visit."
