Reducing Job-Seeking Burdens and Expanding Employment Opportunities Through Practical Cost Support

The county of Sancheong in South Gyeongsang Province announced on February 20 that it will promote the "Job Qualification Acquisition Support Project for the New Middle-Aged" to provide (re)employment opportunities for job seekers in the new middle-aged group and to support their second act in life.

Eligible applicants are Korean job seekers in the new middle-aged group between the ages of 50 and 64 (born between January 1, 1962 and December 31, 1976) who are registered residents of Sancheong County as of November 1, 2025 or later, and who are unemployed as of the application date and have no business registration record.

The support will cover actual expenses such as test fees, textbook costs, and certificate issuance fees (with a 10% self-payment) incurred when taking qualification and language tests conducted after November 2025, up to an annual limit of 200,000 won per person.

The fields include national technical qualification exams (such as Career Counselor, Hairdresser, Wallpaper Craftsman, Computer Utilization Skills, etc.), national professional qualification exams (such as Social Worker, Nursing Assistant, Caregiver, etc.), nationally accredited private qualification exams (such as Outdoor Advertising Specialist, Paper Folding, Hospital Administration Specialist, etc.), as well as the Korean History Proficiency Test and language proficiency tests.

New middle-aged job seekers who wish to participate can apply from this month through November by submitting their applications (via email, in person, or by mail) to the Job Creation Officer at the Economic and Enterprise Division of Sancheong County.

Further details can be found in the official announcement on the Sancheong County website.

An official from Sancheong County said, "We hope that through this project, unemployed job seekers in the new middle-aged group in our county will strengthen their employability, reduce their financial burden, and gain more (re)employment opportunities."
