Daegu Launches "Dalseo Hope Humanities Theater"...Lectures by Political Scientist Kim Jiyoon, Actor Park Joonghoon and More

Daegu Dalseo District (headed by District Mayor Lee Taehoon) will officially launch the “2026 Dalseo Hope Humanities Theater” with a lecture by political scientist Kim Jiyoon at 2 p.m. on the 24th at Cheongryong Hall in the Dalseo Art Center.

The Dalseo Hope Humanities Theater is Dalseo District’s flagship humanities lecture program, which invites experts from various fields to reflect on life and society together with residents. Through its steady operation, it has established itself as a leading humanities and cultural event representing the district.

In this year’s first lecture, political scientist Kim Jiyoon will speak on the theme “Why the Dollar Came to Dominate the World Economy.”

She is expected to clearly explain the historical background and significance of how the dollar became the key currency in the global economic order, and to help the audience understand the rapidly changing international situation and economic trends.

Afterwards, prominent figures from various fields will continue to participate and share in-depth humanities stories.

On March 24, actor and director Park Joonghoon will give a lecture on the theme “A Life of Reflection Without Regret,” and on July 14, voice actor Nam Dohyeong will explore the meaning of life through voice and emotion.

On September 8, Professor Ji Woongbae of Sejong University will present a humanities lecture that combines music and astronomy, and on November 10, actor Kim Seokhoon will deliver a message about sustainable living, focusing on the themes of environment and consumption.

The Dalseo Hope Humanities Theater is open free of charge to all residents of Dalseo District, and starting this year, advance registration will be taken through the Dalseo Lifelong Learning Platform instead of the existing application method via the Dalseo District website.
