LG Uplus to Validate AI on the Global Stage...Joins Global AI Red Team Challenge LG Uplus announced on the 19th that it will participate in the Global AI Red Team Challenge, an AI verification program, to validate the safety and reliability of its in-house AI model. The challenge, organized by the GSM Association (GSMA), will be held in Barcelona, Spain, where MWC26, the world's largest telecommunications and IT event, will take place. This challenge is one of the core programs of "Talent Arena 2026," a developer and digital talent event that is officially and jointly hosted with MWC, and it will verify AI models developed by global telecommunications carriers and tech companies.

About 100 participants will join the challenge as a "red team" and work to identify vulnerabilities in AI systems. A key feature of this challenge is that, instead of technical hacking, it tests whether AI policies and safety mechanisms can be bypassed through conversation- and prompt-based attacks. Participants will evaluate how AI responds across seven areas: ▲Jailbreak (bypassing safety mechanisms) ▲Bias & Discrimination ▲Human Rights Violations ▲Cyberattacks ▲Illegal Content ▲Misinformation ▲Inconsistency in responses.

LG Uplus will submit "ixi-GEN," its internally developed AI model specialized for telecommunications. Through this challenge, the company aims to objectively verify the safety and reliability of ixi-GEN, address any identified vulnerabilities, and continuously advance the AI model. LG Uplus also plans to engage with global telecom operators and AI experts to continue discussions on AI security and responsible use.

Lee Hyejin, Head of Technology Strategy at LG Uplus, said, "As AI is being rapidly applied across telecommunications and customer services, the process of validating not only performance but also reliability and safety is crucial," adding, "By participating in this challenge, we will further strengthen the competitiveness of ixi-GEN and provide AI services that customers can use with confidence."
