Arrest warrant review scheduled for the afternoon of February 18
During the Lunar New Year holiday, a man broke into a home to steal valuables and was arrested by the police after wielding a weapon at a resident who was inside the house.
According to the police on February 18, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for a man referred to as Mr. A on charges of aggravated robbery causing injury.
At around 4:03 p.m. on February 16, Mr. A allegedly trespassed into a multi-family housing unit in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, where a brother and sister in their 20s were living, attempted to steal items, injured the brother with a weapon, and then fled the scene. The victim is reported to have sustained minor injuries.
The police made an emergency arrest of Mr. A at around 7:19 a.m. the previous day based on CCTV footage.
The police are investigating Mr. A to determine his specific motive for the crime.
A pre-arrest detention hearing for Mr. A will be held at the Seoul Central District Court on the afternoon of February 18.
