This agreement was prepared to commercialize high value-added "green bio" products that can compete in the global market by combining Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province's abundant forest resources with Doctor Oregonin's unrivaled research and development (R&D) capabilities in new natural-material substances, going beyond simple resource extraction.
Through this agreement, the two parties agreed to actively cooperate on joint research into functional materials using native tree species in the province for the prevention of sarcopenia, anti-obesity, and alleviation of hair loss, on establishing a stable supply system for forest-bio raw materials, and on obtaining global certifications and conducting joint marketing in overseas markets.
In particular, using the "Gangwon Forest Bio Center," which is scheduled for completion at the end of this year, as a base, the Forest Science Research Institute will support large-scale propagation technologies for high-quality raw materials required by Doctor Oregonin, and the company plans to use these to manufacture finished products such as health functional foods and functional cosmetics and introduce them to the global market.
Chae Byeongmun, Director of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Forest Science Research Institute, said, "This agreement will be an important inflection point in transforming Gangwon's forests from simple green spaces into 'income-generating forests' that return tangible earnings to residents," adding, "We will provide full support for research infrastructure so that outstanding companies like Doctor Oregonin can promote Gangwon's forest resources to the world."
Choi Seoneun, CEO of Doctor Oregonin Co., Ltd., responded, "Through joint research with the Forest Science Research Institute, we are now able to achieve both standardization of raw materials and advancement of functionality," and added, "As a global bio company, we will prove the excellence of Gangwon Province's forest resources in the global market."
