Police: "Still Investigating Motive"
An 80-something man was arrested by the police on February 17, Lunar New Year’s Day, for fatally attacking his wife with a weapon.
The Jeonbuk Jeongeup Police Station announced that it had urgently arrested and was questioning a man identified as A (80) on suspicion of murder.
A is suspected of fatally attacking his wife in her 60s with a weapon at around 11:55 a.m. that day at their home in Jeongeup.
Immediately after the crime, A is said to have confessed what he had done to his son. Responding to the son’s report, the police rushed to the scene and arrested A on the spot. A had injured his arm in a self-harm attempt and has been transported to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
A police official stated, “As A has been hospitalized, we have not yet been able to question him about his motive,” adding, “We are reviewing whether to request an arrest warrant.”
