The Incheon City Council held a rally in the plenary chamber on the 12th, after the 306th extraordinary session, to urge the establishment of the Incheon Rehabilitation Court.
The resolution sponsored by Assemblyman Kim Jongbae emphasized the necessity and justification for establishing a rehabilitation court in Incheon and called for the creation of a legal basis for it.
According to the Monthly Judicial Statistics, the number of individual bankruptcy filings and individual debtor rehabilitation filings received by the Incheon District Court last year ranked within the top five nationwide.
However, Incheon citizens or corporations must either travel to nearby cities such as Seoul or Suwon for rehabilitation or bankruptcy reviews, or undergo review at the Incheon District Court. Since the Incheon District Court handles many other trials in addition to rehabilitation cases, the speed of case processing tends to be slower than that of a dedicated rehabilitation court.

Assemblyman Kim stated, "Currently, there are rehabilitation courts in Seoul, Suwon, and Busan, and next month new rehabilitation courts will be established in Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju," arguing, "Given the population size of 3 million and the volume of rehabilitation and bankruptcy cases, Incheon must have its own rehabilitation court."
Meanwhile, the resolution passed at the plenary session on this day is scheduled to be sent to the Presidential Office, the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee, the Ministry of Justice, and the Supreme Court Administration.
